Sierra Nevada Porter
Brewed by: Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. California, United States
Style: American Porter
I discovered this gem of a bear during my Cicerone training class. It was my favorite beer of the day, It’s a velvety, dark brown beer that smells like coffee ice cream. It has an absolutely wonderful taste that reminds me of a smooth, chocolatey caramel. If you’re a fan of American Porters, I highly recommend picking this up.
Brewed by: Brouwerji Huyghe, Belgium
Style: Belgian Strong Pale Ale
I got this special brew as a present from my Step-Father. I was immediately blown away by the intricate design on the bottle. The bottle is tall, and covered in a white, speckled tape with a pink elephant design on the head. The beer is a pale, light gold with a fruity aroma. The taste is also quite fruity, and I do detect a hint of pepper. I highly recommend this brew to anyone who likes strong and fruity ales.

Hop Stoopid Ale
Brewed by: Lagunitas Brewing Company California, United States
Style: American Double/Imperial IPA
This wonderful brew has had my attention for the longest time. My lovely aunt gave me this beer as an early Christmas present, and boy, did I love it! First of all, the bottle is incredibly cute. It has a picture of a brick house with a surprised expression. The beer is very hoppy, as the name would suggest, and it’s light brown in color. The bitter aftertaste may drive some people away, but I highly recommend it.
Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout (Tadcaster)
Brewed by: Samuel Smith Old Brewery (Tadcaster) England, United Kingdom
Style: English Stout
This is a fantastic stout that will make you begging for more. I first picked up this masterpiece at a restaurant in Truckee. It’s a very sweet and creamy beer with hints of vanilla and milk. It’s like a very rich adult chocolate drink that quenches the thirst on a hot summer day. I definitely recommend this brew and its rich, almost sensual flavor.
