Humility by The Gorillaz Released: May 31st, 2018 from the album “The Now Now” Genres: Jazz pop, Pop, and Funk
It has been way too long since I’ve done a music post! This specific song is from one of my favorite bands, The Gorillaz. They’ve always had an impact on me during my teenage years, and I just recently started checking out their new albums. Imagine my amazement when I found out that they still sound as awesome as ever. The song starts with the lead singer, 2D, roller skating around Venice Beach. His usual black eyes are now white, and he appears to be extremely happy. We also get some awesome cameos from Jack Black, Remi Kabaka, and others. The tempo of this piece is very uplifting, and Murdoc, the bassist, is nowhere to be seen. He’s instead replaced by the leader of the Gang Green Gang, Ace. This also eases some of the tension due to his often sadistic treatment of 2D. The message of the song is to live life to the fullest, and don’t let past mistakes bring you down. 2D’s vocals are almost hypnotizing in nature, and you’ll hear it in your head for days on end. I adore this song, and would love to hear your opinions about it in the comments’ section below. This piece has a ton of Easter eggs from the virtual band’s lore, so tell me the ones that you find.
Hello fellow art lovers! It’s time for another art post! I hope you guys are ready for some amazing works. Now, have fun exploring my gallery!
Siren Head by Trevor Henderson Sometime in 2018 Genres: Horror, Visceral, Unsettling
Siren Head is a disturbing and awesome creation that was made by immensely talented artist and animator, Trevor Henderson. He appears to be a massive monster with 2 sirens for a face. The sirens have extremely sharp teeth, and can broadcast fake emergency alerts. His body is very mummy-like and has disproportional arms as well as black wires around his neck. I love the disturbing quality of this creature, and the size is also quite off-putting. People have been describing this figure as a lost SCP creation, and I’m totally on board with that. An absolutely incredible work, and I highly recommend checking out the game and artist.
The Celestial Crescent Moon Machinery by Larry Carlson Archival pigment print on paper
This is an awesome work by “Master Surrealist”, Larry Carlson. It is an outdoor piece that seems to take place in another world. The sky is covered with psychedelic stars and wonderful multicolored lights. The center of the piece houses a strange alien Farris wheel of some sort with crescent moons as the carts. There is also 2 eyes with realistic pupils. The bottom of the work has multiple faces that resemble flying saucers and there is some bizarre figures on either side. Tell me what you think of this work in the comments’ section below.
Hello fellow followers and welcome to a brand new post! I can’t believe I haven’t done a Kirby themed post on this blog yet. In case you aren’t in the know, Kirby is a video game franchise staring the titular character as he goes on adventures and fights enemies. While he looks very cute and cuddly in nature, there’s a dark side to it all. Kirby is actually a terrifying monster with the ability to absorb his foes and copy their abilities. His stomach is essentially a giant black hole that completely tears enemies apart. The overall joy of the games are the various abilities you can obtain. Because of this, I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorites. Now, let’s begin!
Mike: Enemy that carries this: Walkie Appearance: Kirby first grabs a regular mike and “sings” into it. Next, he screams into a megaphone. Lastly, he sports a green mohawk and shouts at the top of his lungs. Can be used 3 times. First Appeared: Kirby’s Adventure (1993)
Good old Mike! This has been always one of my favorite abilities in Kirby history. This ability does heavy damage to all foes on screen, and also does quite a bit to bosses. I love the various changes in appearance as the move goes on, and it’s just a blast to use. It also incorporates something from the Anime in the move. According to it, Kirby is tone deaf, so his sing actually really hurts the ears!
I love this image so much!
Suplex: Enemy that carries this: Buggzy (Boss) and Jukid (Boss) Appearance: Kirby wears a blue bandana and has darker skin. Attacks: Kirby gains some amazing wrestling moves that can completely decimate his opponents. These range from rapid fire kicks, backdrops, and back breakers. First Appeared: Kirby Super Star (1996)
This is another one of the abilities that bring a huge smile to my face. Ever since I got into Pro Wrestling, I’ve fallen in love with this ability. It not only does large amounts of damage to enemies, but also turns stars into literal pile drivers. Unfortunately it isn’t easy to come by, and must be obtained by defeating certain minibosses. Fun fact: All of Kirby’s throws in the Super Smash Bros series are variations of this ability.
Ninja: Enemies absorbed to get this ability: Bio-Spark and Moonja Appearance: Kirby gets a red helmet with a star and purple plume. His skin turns purple in Super Star. Attacks: Various ninja-related moves like kunais, katana slices, smoke bombs, ninjutsu, shockwaves, wall jumps etc. First Appeared: Kirby Super Star (1996)
Kirby is a freaking Ninja! This ability is so cool, and it looks amazing when you use it. The overall attention to the awesomeness of being a ninja shines here, and your opponents won’t know what hit ’em! You can also rack up tons of damage really fast, and pick off foes from any distance.
Hello fellow followers! As, I’ve stated in an earlier post, I haven’t had the time to write much this month. In this case, I’m extending the Mega Man posts to the month of April. Now, let’s begin today’s topic!
The Mega Man Battle Network series has the main character fighting various viruses on the internet using weapons called Battle Chips. Each Navi or virus buster has a folder consisting of 30 different chips. Battle Chips have various codes and are divided into 3 different types. Standard Battle Chips can be used as many times as you character allows it. They can be anything from virus chips to health recovery. Mega Chips are limited to 5 per folder, and are much more potent than Standard Chips. They usually are acquired from defeating bosses at certain busting levels, or bought at high prices at shops. Dark Chips are a dangerous, but potent series of chips that can dish out immense damage and health recovery. There is a catch, however, in that your HP is Permanently reduced by 1 upon each use. It also messes up your controls and occasionally causes Mega Man’s buster to shoot out flowers instead of doing damage. Then, we get to what this post is about, the Giga Chips. Giga Chips are the most devastating and powerful chips in the Battle Network series. They can be in the form of pure damage, ridiculous health recovery, huge shields, or other effects. The following are some of my absolute favorites from the 6-game series.
Delta Ray First Appeared: Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue Version Element: Sword Dmg: 220-260 X 3 Effect: Proto Man appears and slices the closest enemy up to 3 times, dealing tremendous Sword damage.
Good old Delta Ray. This chip has been one of my favorites since it first appeared in Battle Network 3. The animation and pure ridiculous damage it causes makes this chip an absolute treat to use in any folder. It also completely obliterates Wind element foes.
Chaos Lord First Appeared: Mega Man Battle Network 5 (DS version) Element: None Dmg: 500 Effect: Nebula Grey (The Final Boss of Battle Network 5), shape shifts into Bass, who then uses his Chaos Nightmare attack (imagine a dark cybernetic Spirit Bomb), which covers all of the enemy’s side of the field, cracks all of the panels, and breaks guards.
This is one of the most insane Giga Chips ever created! It is only available in the DS version of Battle Network 5, and can only be obtained though a secret lotto number. You can get it early in the game, and it absolutely decimates viruses, and makes liberation missions a breeze.
Holy Dream First Appeared: Mega Man Battle Network 4 Red Sun Element: None Dmg: Up to 50 X 9 Effect: Time freezes, then Mega Man fires a shot down the row he is standing on for every Holy Panel you control. Cannot be used by Dark Mega Man.
Holy Dream is one of the only good things to come out of the Black Sheep of the Battle Network series. It is surprisingly potent in battle, and can make quick work out of the final boss. Unfortunately, it is completely useless as Dark Mega Man, and will only waste space in your folder. It also adds insult to injury if you use too many Dark Chips.
Hello fellow followers, and welcome to a very special post! Throughout the month, I will be covering many different topics revolving around my favorite video game franchise, Megaman. We will start the month with some of my favorite characters, and this can be anyone from the entire franchise, including the fan games. Now, let’s get started on admiring the amazing super fighting robot!
Shadowman.EXE Element: Neutral Operator: En:Dusk JP:(Dark Miyabi) First Appeared: Netnavi: Battle Network 1 Robot Master: Mega Man 3 Powers/Abilities: Shuriken, Clones, Muramasa, Fire Waves, Katana HP: 500/700/1200/1600 (Latest Game Battle Network 5)
Let’s start this party properly with one of the coolest Netnavis this side of the internet. Shadowman has, and always will be, one of my favorite characters. He has a very mysterious past, and sort of works like an internet bounty hunter. His design is super cool and I love the shuriken design on his helm. He will delete anybody for a hefty price, no questions asked. His first encounter in Battle Network 1 only gives you a glimpse of what he’s capable of. He does many things a stereotypical ninja does, including; throwing ninja stars, and summoning clones. However, his encounter in Battle Network 2 is much more difficult. He moves extremely fast, uses fire elemental attacks, is immune to terrain effects, can summon invincible blue clones, and has access to his most dangerous weapon, the cursed blade known as Muramasa. Muramasa increases in power as the user gets damaged, and he only uses it when he knows it will kill. The chip you get from defeating him is nothing to laugh at either. Upon use, he will shoot 3 ninja stars at the enemy with the highest HP. Overall, an incredibly awesome character.
Metal Man First Appeared: Mega Man 2 Creator: Dr. Albert W. Wily Appearance: A medium-sized robot with a red body, saw blade helmet, red eyes, and yellow boots. Weapon: Metal Blade (A highly powerful projectile that’s made out of ceramic titanium). Weakness: Surprisingly, due to a design flaw, Metal Blade! Likes: Frisbees Dislikes: Dogs HP: 28 Attacks: Metal Blade (3) Contact (6)
Good old Metal Man! This is not only the ideal first Robot Master to fight in Mega Man 2, but also has possibly the most overpowered weapon in the entire original franchise. The Metal Blade can be thrown in 8 different directions, and can be used 112 times without recharging it. The amount of power creep on this weapon is almost unheard of, and it makes half of the game a complete cakewalk. A flawed, but awesome Robot Master.
Hello fellow Tavern Dwellers! It’s time for another Hearthstone post! I hope you guys are ready for some awesome cards. Now, let’s have ourselves a friendly brawl!
Hexed Hermit by Lucious Type: Shaman Neutral Minion Appearance: An old sage with 2 different colored eyes. Mana Cost: 3 Attack: 0 Health: 1 Effect: Taunt, Deathrattle: Summon a random 4-cost minion.
As I’ve said many times before, random effects are my favorite type of cards. This specific one is incredibly potent with a high cost minion summon. The Shaman class has many powerful minions, and this card can help you get them out easier. I also love the fact that it has Taunt.
Pumpking by FreshPuppy Type: Paladin Legendary Minion Appearance: A fearsome pumpkin creature welding a large club. Mana Cost: 5 Attack: 5 Health: 1 Effect: Your 1-Health minions have Rush and are Immune during your turn.
Here we have a very cool and effective Paladin card. I absolutely love the artwork, and the effect is quite good. It makes some originally useless minions viable, and that’s excellent. It also makes the Paladin’s Hero Power a force to be reckoned with.
Hello fellow art lovers! It’s time for some new paintings to be added to my gallery. I hope you guys are ready for some amazing art pieces. Now, have fun exploring my gallery!
The Age of Fire by Rene Magritte 1927 Oil on canvas
This is an incredible work by “Belgian Surrealist”, Magritte. It is very different from most of his paintings, in that it almost seems realistically visceral. The main theme of this piece is of course, fire, and the way that he portrays it is truly mesmerizing. The work takes place outside, seemingly in the middle of the afternoon. The sky is a brilliant brown and red, and there appears to be a lake running through the background. Then, we get to the main star of the show, the fire. The fire is being conjured up by an extremely detailed Indian Chief, who has a crimson red body that resembles blood vessels and veins. It has an almost fabric-like quality to it, and this makes it seem like the fire is moving, and that you can touch it. I absolutely adore this work, and would love to hear what you think of it in the comments’ section below.
Concentric rinds by M.C. Escher 1953 Wood engraving
This is an insanely awesome work by “Graphic Artist”, Escher. The amazingly intricate design of this piece is completely mind blowing, and it must have taken Escher years to make. The entirety of the work reminds me of some type of crazy illusionist’s take on a globe. It’s covered with astonishing fractals and other repeated geometric patterns. I also love the lack of bright colors because this allows the viewer to fill it in themselves. Tell me what you think of this work in the comments’ section below.
