- Penelope’s Tapestry by Rene Magritte 1943 Gouache on paper
This is an absolutely beautiful work by “Belgian Surrealist”, Magritte. It takes a unique turn from pure Surrealism, and adds Realism to the mix. It’s an outdoor piece with a misty sky and old fashioned houses. We also get a brilliant blend of snowy blue and green grass. The center of the piece houses a snowy tree, and it blends extremely well with the grass. Near the right side of the work, we see another tree, however, this one is green and planted in rich grass. Tell me what you think of this piece in the comments’ section below.
