More Cool TV Tropes

Hello fellow media fans! It’s time for another round of TV Tropes! I hope you guys are ready for some truly unique tropes. Now, let’s begin!

  • Psycho for Hire: This is essentially a person who enjoys causing pain and misfortune to others for a price. They can appear to be completely normal, but little do people know, that they’re like dormant volcanoes waiting to erupt. They always have quirks, and at least one signature weapon that they use to inflict any amount of torture. Some examples of these characters include: Ryuji Yamzaki of the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series. He’s a yakuza member with a split personality. He works under the ruthless Geese Howard, and has appeared in many SNK games. He usually appears to be normal and calculating, but his entire personality changes the instant he starts fighting. He  doesn’t have any combat training of his own, and instead uses a uniquely brutal form of street fighting that always involves his signature knife. One of this moves involves him grabbing an opponent by the neck, and slamming him to the ground multiple times while laughing maniacally. Ladd Russo from Baccano! is a complete and utter psychopath with an incredible mind and excellent gun skills.

  • Impromptu Weapon UserThis is an incredibly fun trope that deals with the characters in media that use the weirdest things possible to inflict damage on enemies. Sometimes they end up being a lot more useful that people think, and other times, they just completely suck. Examples of these are: Kanji Tatsumi from Persona 4. He’s the resident badass who beats his enemies down with a freaking desk, chair, or shield. Yoshimitsu from the Soul Calibur series occasionally uses a Shepard’s Crook as a sword. The crook baas upon making contact. We also have The Holy Mackerel as a melee weapon in Team Fortress 2. Scout gets this actual fish wrapped in newspaper to bludgeon his enemies with. If you manage to get a kill with this “weapon” the words FISH KILL! appear on the screen.
