Konichiwa, everyone! It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means. Yes, it’s time for us to take a look at some more yokai. Now, let’s go on a journey to the “Land of the Rising Sun”!

  • Tanuki are some of the most popular creatures of Japanese mythology. They resemble a mixture of a badger, dog, and raccoon. Tanuki are incredibly cute, and also have some incredibly powerful magical abilities. They can shape-shift quite easily, and get this power from their magical testicles. Tanuki often use their to play tricks on humans.

  • Yamauba are extremely dangerous creatures of Japanese folklore. They resemble ordinary old women, however this is just a disguise! Yamauba lead people into their mountain homes, and when night occurs, they transform into ugly witches. The yokai will then try to eat the people by using powerful magic. Only a few people have ever been able to escape the wrath of the Yamauba.
