Yokai Wednesdays

Konbanwa everyone! It’s Wednesday, and you know what means! Yes, it’s time to take a look at some more interesting yokai. Now, let’s go on a journey to the “Land of the Rising Sun!”

  • O_O! Amanozako is an extremely ugly creature of Japanese folklore. She’s depicted as a humanoid creature with an enormous nose, tusks, and sharp teeth. (yokai.com) She was vomited up by Susanoo in the form of a ball of bad feelings. (yokai.com) Amanozako has an incredibly short fuse, and will become livid if things don’t go her way. (yokai.com) What a brat!

  • Braiiiins! Nuribotoke are grotesque creatures of Japanese mythology. They’re depicted as zombie-like creatures with a pungent odor, oily black skin, dangling eyeballs, and a catfish-like tail. (yokai.com) They love to scare the families whose butsudan they crawl out of. (yokai.com)
