Yokai Wednesdays

Konichiwa everyone! It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means! Yes, it’s time take a look at some more interesting yokai. Now, let’s go on a journey to “The Land of the Rising Sun”!

  • Caught Red Handed! Akateko are very strange creatures of Japanese mythology. They resemble disembodied red hands. (yokai.com) They’re found in Japanese honey locust trees, and will drop down from said tree when a person walks under it. (yokai.com) Other than giving people a scare, Akateko are completely harmless. (yokai.com)


  • Umi Bozu are dangerous creatures of Japanese folklore. Their form is enshrouded in mystery, however reports depict them as large humanoid figures with huge eyes and inky black skin. (yokai.com) They’re known to sink ships and are known to create violent waves. (yokai.com)
