Asher’s Art Gallery (Mondays)

Hello fellow art lovers! It’s Monday, and you know what that means! Yes, it’s time for me to share some more of my favorite art pieces with you wonderful people. I hope you guys are ready for some interesting pieces. Now, grab a paintbrush, and let’s get creative!

  • Threatening Weather by Rene Magritte 1928 Oil on Canvas (info about medium from nationalgalleries.org) This is a very unique and interesting piece of abstract art. Magritte uses term “seeing things in the clouds” to a new level by actually portraying objects. There are 3 of them in total, and they’re equally bizarre. The leftmost image is an armless female torso with large breasts. The middle image is a large tuba, and the rightmost image is a simple wooden chair. The cloud shapes are over a beautiful ocean and rocky coast. I’d love to hear what you guys think of this piece, so be sure to write a comment in the comment’s section below.

  • Let Me Brighten Up Your Day! L4 by Larry Carlson digital photography 2015 (info about piece from Larry Carlson’s website larrycarlson.com) Here we have one of Carlson’s most unique pieces. At first glance, we see a sparkling female figure. However, if you take a closer look, you’ll find where the abstractness of the piece lies. The figure appears to have no pupils, but bright white light is shooting out of the eye sockets. Her hair is made out of green Christmas lights, and she seems to have some type of comic aura surrounding her body. I would absolutely love to hear what you guys think of this piece, so be sure to leave a comment in the comment’s section below.
