Strange Creatures of The Sea (Tuesdays)

Hello fellow Marine Biologists! It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means! Yes, it’s time for us to take another look at some interesting sea creatures. Now, let’s get this post started!

  • Woof! Paraliparis copei copei (Blacksnout seasnail) (sci name from Claire Nouvian’s book The Deep) The Blacksnout seasonal is a very strange creature that can be found from 200-1692 m underwater. (The Deep) They have very cute puppy-like faces and slimy bodies. (The Deep) It defends itself by rolling into a loop, and scientists believe that is to mimic the appearance of a jellyfish. • Boo! (Winteria telescopa) Spookfish (sci name from The Deep) The Spookfish is a very strange creature of the deep sea. It can be as big as 20cm, and can be found 400m below the surface.
