Hello fellow Marine Biologists! It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means! Yes, it’s time for us to take another look at some interesting sea creatures. Now, grab some scuba gear, and get ready to dive!
- O_O California Lizardfish (Synodus luciocepsis) (sci name from en.wikipedia.org) California Lizardfish are incredibly creepy creatures that can be found in the waters of the California coast. (en.wikipedia.org) They can grow up to 63.9cm in length, and can weight up to four pounds. (en.wikipedia.org) This abomination gets its name from its elongated cylindrical body, and lizard-like head and mouth. (en.wikipedia.org) Their mouth is filled with sharp teeth, and they’re said to taste like iodine. (en.wikipedia.org)
- Once Again O_O Wolf Eel (Anarrhichthys ocellatus) The Wolf Eel is a very fearsome looking creature that can be found in the Sea of Japan, the Pacific Ocean, and the Aleutian Islands. (en.wikipedia.org) It can grow to a whopping 80in in length and weigh up to 41 pounds. (en.wikipedia.org) While they normally feed on fish, sea urchins, and clams, they can inflict a painful bite to humans. (en.wikipedia.org) Luckily, they’re usually curious and friendly creatures. (en.wikipedia.org) (I still wouldn’t mess around with it. I MEAN, JUST LOOK AT IT!)
