More Awesome Beasts of Japanese Mythology (Wednesdays)

Konichiwa everyone! It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means! Yes, it’s time to take a look at some more mythical beasts. I hope you guys are ready to take another journey to the “Land of The Rising Sun”.   • 8 Legged Terror!  Koromodako are very dangerous creatures of Japanese folklore. They are found in oceans that border Fukui and Kyoto. (yokai.com) Koromodako look similar to small octopi, however this is only a disguise! (yokai.com) When provoked, Koromodako can grow up to many times its original size, and end up looking like a giant cloth. (yokai.com) They consume anything that crosses them, dragging the prey to the depths below. (yokai.com)

  • Haunted Beam! Sakabashira are angry sprits of leaves that live inside houses with upside-down pillars. (yokai.com) At nighttime, they awaken, and bring their curse upon the unfortunate family who lives there. (yokai.com) They wreck havoc in the home, and the family often looses their fortunes and possessions due to the curse. (yokai.com)
