More Awesome Beasts of Japanese Mythology (Wednesdays)

Konichiwa everyone! It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means! Yes, it’s time to take a look at some more mythical beasts. I hope you guys are ready to take another journey to the “Land of The Rising Sun”.   • 8 Legged Terror!  Koromodako are very dangerous creatures of Japanese folklore. They are found in oceans that border Fukui and Kyoto. ( Koromodako look similar to small octopi, however this is only a disguise! ( When provoked, Koromodako can grow up to many times its original size, and end up looking like a giant cloth. ( They consume anything that crosses them, dragging the prey to the depths below. (


  • Haunted Beam! Sakabashira are angry sprits of leaves that live inside houses with upside-down pillars. ( At nighttime, they awaken, and bring their curse upon the unfortunate family who lives there. ( They wreck havoc in the home, and the family often looses their fortunes and possessions due to the curse. (
