Paintings and Other Art Pieces I Love (Mondays)

Hello fellow art lovers! It’s Monday, and you know what that means! Yes, it’s time for me to share more of my favorite paintings, as well as a few other art works with you wonderful people.  I hope you guys are ready for some interesting paintings. Now, let’s get started!

  • In the Studio with Infinity by Larry Carlson 2015 Digital Photography (info about painting from Larry Carlson’s website larrycarlson.com)

Ah yes, another awesome work by the computer guru himself, Larry Carlson. This piece is photograph that has been rendered to epic levels of awesomeness! In this piece, Carlson’s various works are scattered in a “tunnel-like” fashion with the distant works being sucked into a vortex. Larry’s cat also makes an appearance, and stares at the viewer with glowing yellow eyes. I really enjoy this piece because it reminds me of funhouse mirrors, and how they distort images. Please tell me what you think of this piece in the comments section below.

  • Grillo by Jean-Michel Basquiat Acrylic, oil, photocopy, collage, oil paintstick, and nails on wood 1984

I hope you guys are ready for an incredibly epic work of art, because this is guaranteed to blow your mind! In my opinion, this is one of Basquiat’s finest works. It’s a huge masterpiece that’s divided into 4 panels. The first panel depicts one of Basquiat’s trademark skeletal entities with visible organs and a background that reminds me of his late work, Pegasus.  The second panel depicts a shadowy figure among a dark background with chalky buildings. The third panel is another skeletal creature with visible organs and a crown. The last panel is covered in a mustard yellow with graffiti symbols. I highly recommend look at this amazing piece, and I would love to hear what you think about it in the comments section below.
