More Mythical Beasts of Japan (Wednesdays)

Konichiwa everyone! It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means. Yes, it’s time for us to once again dive into awesome world of Japanese mythology. I hope you guys are ready to enter a world of wonder and craziness! Now, let’s get started!

  • Eye see you again! The Tenome is a very weird creature of Japanese mythology. It’s depicted as a blind old man with eyes on its hands. (yokai.com) They prey on humans and can run at great speeds, and although they can’t see, the have an acute sense of smell. (yokai.com) They are said to have originally been blind men that were mugged and then killed. (yokai.com)

  • Burn Baby Burn! The Wa nyudo is a very creepy and dangerous creature of  Japanese folklore. They are depicted as a giant scary man’s head that is trapped within a wheel of hellfire. (yokai.com) They are minions of Hell, but spend most of their time on Earth. (yokai.com) The Wa nyudo relishes in inflicting pain on others, and is in constant pain itself. (yokai.com) The only way to stop a Wa nyudo is to decorate your house with pray beads and to not make direct contact with it. (yokai.com)
