Creepy Pokedex Entries (Every Wednesday for the Month of October)

Hello everyone, and welcome to another look at a well-loved topic! As said before, I am a huge fan of the Pokemon franchise. I adore the gigantic amount of characters and their very unique designs. One of the most important tools in a Pokemon Trainer’s arsenal is the Pokedex, a compendium of all the various creatures you will meet on your journey. Despite the “E” rating, Japan has managed to put some pretty disturbing information into the dex. It becomes less of a children-friendly game, and more of a horror story. So, to celebrate the month of Halloween, I will be adding the most bizarre and messed up entries that I can find. Now, let’s dive into the amazing world of Pokemon!

  •    Bruxish  The Gnash Teeth Pokemon (Based off of a filefish or reef triggerfish)

Size: 2″11 Weight: 41.9lbs

Bruxish is a water/psychic fish Pokemon from Generation VII. It’s quite colorful, and has a mouth that’s full of sharp teeth. They can be caught from fishing spots in the Secluded Shore.

Pokedex entry from Pokemon Moon: It stuns its prey with psychokinesis and grinds them to mush with its strong teeth. Even Shelder’s shell is no match for it. (Yes brutal death, totally a kid’s game!)

  • Dusclops The Beckon Pokemon (Based off of a Hitotsume-kozo)

Size: 5’03” Weight: 67.5 lbs

Dusclops is a pure ghost type Pokemon from Generation III. It’s a fairly large, cyclopean ghost with a grey body that resembles bandages on a mummy. It can be found be leveling up Duskull to level 37.

Pokedex entry from Omega Ruby: Dusclops’s body is completely hollow—–there is nothing at all inside. It is said that its body is like a black hole. This Pokemon will absorb anything into its body, but nothing will ever come back out. (O_O)

Messed Up Superheroes and Villains (October Comic Book Special)

Hello fellow comic book fans! It’s time to spook up this post just in time for Halloween. While Tuesday is usually set for strange comic book characters, I am going to change things up. This week, we will be looking at some truly insane characters. They are designed with the intent to disturb the reader, and no punches will be pulled. This post is going to be a lot more graphic then usual, so get ready as we explore the unhinged psyche of the comic book world.

  • James Braddock Status: Hero /Villain First Appeared: Captain Britain Weekly #9 (December 1976) Powers: Ability to manipulate reality, which can distort and twist objects and people into grotesque and agonizing shapes. He also has incredible durability.

James Braddock is the older brother of Captain Britain and Psylocke. He originally was a successful Formula 1 racer who participated in many illegal activities. He was eventually kidnapped and brutally tortured by the tyrannical Doctor Crocodile. His incredible powers began to manifest when he lost his sanity. The powers made James one of the most dangerous beings in the universe, and his unhinged mind made him very unpredictable. (This is one of the most deranged and awesome comic book characters of all time.) (His face is also extremely off-putting.)

  • Flamingo Real Name: Eduardo Flamingo Status: Serial Killer First Appeared: Batman #666 (July, 1 2007) Powers/Weapons: Enhanced senses, feral strength, Invulnerability

Eduardo was an average Joe, until he was brainwashed by the Mob. He turned into a horrifying serial killer, and murdered his entire family. His mind was completely altered, turning him into an unpredictable maniac. He also loved to eat the faces of his victims after killing them. Flamingo is most well known for almost killing Red Hood. Part of Hood’s left ear was eaten, and he was shot in the kneecaps. Eduardo seemingly met his end by a pile of rubble. (O_O)

  •  Murmur Real Name: Michael Christian Amar Status: Ex Surgeon/Serial Killer First Appeared: Flash Iron Heights (August 2001) Powers/Weapons: A ruthless assassin skilled with a knife, which he uses to murder his victims and cut off their tongues. Also a very strange blood type which makes him immune to all viruses and poisons.

Michael was a well respected surgeon with many personal demons. He eventually went on a killing spree to supposedly stop the voices in his head. He was captured by the police, and put to death by lethal injection. Unfortunately, Michael’s incredibly abnormal blood typing negated the poison, and he was sentenced to the Iron Heights Maximum Security Prison. While in prison, Michael committed a horrifying act of self-mutalation by stitching up his mouth, and cutting off his tongue. He escaped prison, and then joined Blacksmith and the Rogues. (His face is what nightmares are made of!)

Asher’s Art Gallery (Scary October Edition) (Every Other Monday)

* Some of these pieces are pretty creepy!

Hello fellow art lovers! It’s Monday, and my Gallery is open once again! I hope you guys are ready for some awesome pieces. Now, have fun exploring my Gallery!

  •  The Smiling Spider by Odilon Redon Lithograph 1888

This is a grotesquely awesome work by “French Symbolist” Redon. The titular spider is atramentous with 8 very long legs. The most surreal part of the piece is the spider’s face. It has human-like features and short, fang-like teeth. It’s also missing one eye, and almost absorbs the background. While, it’s not the most colorful piece, I believe that this adds to the creepiness factor. Tell me what you think of this piece in the comments’ section below.

  • Necronom IV by H.R. Giger 1976 Airbrush on paper

This is an incredibly awesome work by the genius of Aliens, H.R. Giger. This is a painting of a fierce-looking Necromorph with multiple tentacles. The face reminds me of a dragonfish, and the long head is like a giant spine. The use of dark colors really brings this work to life. I adore the incredibly intricate design, and creepy visuals. Tell me what you think of this horror masterpiece in the comments’ section below.

Asher’s Favorite Beers (Every Other Thursday)

Information about beers found on BeerAdvocate.com

Hello everyone! I have decided to spice things up a bit, and create a more personal Thursday post. Recently, I have been training to become a Cicerone. A Cicerone is like a sommelier for beer. They have the tasks of keeping and serving beer, knowing about the various beer styles, evaluating and describing beer flavor, knowing about beer’s ingredients and how to brew them, and how to pair various beers with foods. Yesterday, I took a beer bootcamp on the basics of being a Cicerone, and boy was it amazing! I have finally found out what I would like to do with my life, and it feels great! In order to celebrate this epiphany, I have decided to share with you my favorite beers. I hope you guys will enjoy this post as much as I enjoy writing it. Now, let’s dive into the amazing and delicious world of beer!

  •  Wells Banana Bread Beer

Brewed by: Wells & Young’s Ltd England, United Kingdom

Style: Fruit/ Vegetable Beer

ABV: 5.20%

Availability: Year-Round

This incredibly unique beer first caught my attention when I saw it in the liquor isle of my local grocery store. It stood out among the rest, and I immediately decided to buy it. Upon opening the beer, I was met with a wonderful smell of Bananas. The beer was bright yellow, and reminded me of Cola Champagne. I took a sip, and was immediately engulfed in a banana paradise. The sweetness of the bananas combined with the bitterness of the hops was absolutely perfect. I cannot recommend this beer enough, and I highly suggest that you go buy it if you can find it in your area.

  • Dragon’s Milk Stout

Brewed In: New Holland Brewing Company Michigan, United States

Style: American Double/ Imperial Stout

ABV: 11.00%

 Availability :Year-Round

I first discovered this gem of a beer when I was vacationing in Ojai. I was at a Tapas Bar, and I found this beer on the menu. I absolutely adore the bottle’s art, which depicts a black dragon on a beer barrel. This beer is aged in a whiskey barrel, and has an extremely dark color. The beer smells very chocolaty, and the contents look like root beer. It has a very unique taste, that reminds me of a bitter Bailey’s Irish Creme with hints of vanilla and coffee. It is a pretty strong beer, so it is not for everyone, but if you are interested, by all means, try it out.

The Crappiest Video Game Cover Art (Every Other Wednesday)

“Art” found on various websites

Hello fellow gamers! It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means!  Yes, it’s time to cringe, as we look at some horrible cover art. Now, let the crapfest begin!

  • Dudes With Attitude for the NES (1990)

Dudes With Attitude was a piss poor action/adventure game for the NES. The object of the game is to use the “dudes” to collect colored gems and avoid the evil Gumsplats. Unfortunately the game had horrible controls and graphics. The cover doesn’t do anything to numb the pain, and is in fact, scary as hell! The art depicts 3 sentient balls surrounding a treasure chest. The leftmost figure is a blue female with black shades and a pucker mouth. The rightmost image is a yellow male with spiky hair, and a “shit eating” grin. The middlemost image is the fugliest of them all, and depicts a red male ball with an eyepatch, mustache, and demonic grin. This is completely unsettling, and causes the viewer to stay away from this abomination. (Come on, artists! You can do bettter than this!)

  • Final Zone II for the Turbo Grafx 16 (1990)

Final Zone II is a wonderfully fun shooter that’s quite similar to Ikari Warriors. If you have watched the Happy Console Gamer, there are chances that you have heard of this game. Two covers were made, one for Japan, and one for North America. The Japanese one is very cool, and portrays the main characters in an Anime style. The North American cover, other the other hand, is a giant pile of vomit! The artist must have been hitting the crack pipe pretty hard when he birthed this monstrosity! The character’s proportions are completely askew, and the faces look like grotesque bobble heads. The robot suits are morbidly obese, and the weapons look like construction equipment! Tell me what you think of this shitshow in the comments’ section below.
